Difference between Regular & Alternative program
Our alternative rehabilitation program aims to achieve the maximum recovery possible for each patient. Instead of teaching how to compensate for an affected arm or leg, our goal is to restore lost motor skills and functions.
Zhu’s Scalp acupuncture
Research shows that integration of scalp acupuncture into the rehabilitation process produces better results than exercises alone.
Our program also includes different acupuncture techniques to recover the nervous system: Xing Nao Kai Qiao, electrostimulation of acupuncture points, and others.
Daoyin
Daoyin is an ancient form of physical and breathing exercises and mental activities for health and spiritual cultivation. Daoyin does not involve physical activities only but also integrates mental work into the rehabilitation process. Studies show that just using mind and exercise visualization, without any real workout, can increase the muscle tone and prevent muscle degeneration as if the patient does the real training in a gym.
Intensity
Research shows that it requires more than 1,200 repetitions for the brain to “rewire” itself. This number can be achieved by 3 to 8 hours of intensive work per day. Incorporation of Dao Yin into our rehab program and the combination of repetitions of simple tasks with visualization is a key to achieving the maximum recovery possible for the patient.
How long is the program?
Each treatment course varies from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the condition. Some chronic conditions require multiple treatment courses with break intervals.
