Overview
A 74-year-old woman who suffered a stroke 25 years ago experienced severe neuropathic pain in her paralyzed leg for nearly a year before seeking treatment. Following brain surgery in 1994, she remained partially paralyzed, relying on a support brace and cane for mobility. The pain, characterized by sharp, unpredictable bouts of stabbing and burning sensations, radiated from her spine down to her left lower limb. Unlike typical sciatic pain, it occurred randomly, regardless of activity or rest, and severely disrupted her sleep. Conventional medications provided little to no relief.
